Ramsmobile RM-X2 promises deployable track system for off-roading

It looks like the Batman Tumbler and a Humvee gave birth, but the Ramsmobile RM-X2 promises supercar performance on-road and mountain goat performance away from the bitumen.

For some, the ability of the RM-X2 to get from 0-100km/h in just 3.3 seconds will see their knees tremble. For others, it’ll be the fact this thing will apparently have a deployable track system for when the going gets too rough. Ramsmobile is calling for investment now, so, whether this thing will make it to production remains to be seen. But the specs make for interesting reading.

The company claims the RM-X2 will be able to climb slopes of 60-70-degree inclines and descend 45-degree slopes without going end-over. The air suspension offers up to 300mm of wheel travel and an in-built laser level will keep the thing level on the road. It features a carbon-fibre monocoque with a teflon-coated underbody to keep the muck from sticking to it, or so the company claims. But wait, there’s more. Under the bonnet will be the choice of a 6.2-litre V8 or 6.6-litre turbo-diesel, or an electric motor. It offers an old-school part-time four-wheel drive system, can be specified to seat four or six people, armoured and fitted with bulletproof glass.
