In a less-than-surprising announcement ANCAP gives the new Defender 5 stars for safety.

Who would’ve thunk it? ANCAP (Australian New Car Assessment Program) has awarded the new Defender 5 stars for safety. Why is this not surprising? Well, for starters, the new Land Rover Defender is one of the most technologically advanced 4X4s on the planet, and it’s jam-packed with safety kit.

The new Defender is a far cry from the old one when it comes to safety equipment.

According to ANCAP, the new defender exhibited strong performance across the four key areas of safety assessment. “Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection scored well, with maximum points recorded for adult occupants in the side impact and oblique pole tests, and for child occupants in the frontal offset and side impact tests,” ANCAP Director – Communications & Advocacy, Rhianne Robson said.

Nick Rogers, Executive Director, Product Engineering, Jaguar Land Rover said: “From the moment we started creating the New Defender, we were obsessed with functional safety and the protection of both the occupants and other road users. We set out to make a vehicle that is the most capable and durable Land Rover ever made, with safety features that truly enhance the driver’s experience. It’s an incredible honour to receive this recognition from ANCAP who have endorsed our New Defender with their five-star rating.”

Yep. The new Defender is a far cry from the old one when it comes to safety.
