In what seems a bit like Groundhog Day, Toyota has announced another limited edition run of 400 LandCruiser 200 Sahara Horizon models.

The original LandCruiser 200 Sahara Horizon was revealed in February last year to help celebrate the 60th anniversary of Toyota Australia’s “formal establishment” in Australia. It retailed for $129,090+ORCs. This new run of 400 LC200 Sahara Horizon vehicles will go on sale in March 2021 at an eye-watering $131,896+ORCs.

Toyota says that from the front the Horizon is distinguished by a unique grille with a dark finish, black headlight surrounds and smoked chrome foglight surrounds. It wears a ‘Horizon’ badge at the rear.

Unique features inside include premium black semi-aniline leather-accented seats with unique stitching and ‘LandCruiser’ embossing. The Horizon also gets a heated black leather-accented steering wheel, black interior trim and headliner with chrome accents, and premium stitching in the leather-accented door trims.

Oh, and the LandCruiser logo is illuminated in the front and rear puddle lamps.

“As Australia’s best-selling upper-large SUV, there is no shortage of LandCruisers out there and the new Horizon special edition offers customers an enhanced visually distinctive appeal,” Toyota Australia Vice President Sales and Marketing Sean Hanley said. “With its bespoke styling and premium ambience, the Horizon special edition is equally at home for an elegant night out in the city as it is crossing the Simpson desert.”

Other luxury touches on the Sahara Horizon include power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, four-zone climate control, keyless entry and start, multi-terrain monitor, premium audio system with 9-inch touchscreen, rear-seat DVD player and satnav. On the safety front it gets Toyota Safety Sense features including pre-collision with pedestrian detection, active cruise control and automatic high beam.

Mechanically the Horizon is the same as any other LandCruiser 200; it’s powered by Toyota’s 1VD-FTV 4.5-litre V8 twin-turbo diesel engine (200kW/650Nm) mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel drive system with Multi-Terrain Select.
