Glossary

Anti-fog A chemical treatment that stops condensation and fog from building up on the inside of your lenses.

Anti-reflective A thin, hard coating on the inside of your lens that stops reflected light from bouncing back on your eye, which can cause eye strain and ghost images.

Mineral glass lens Hard, durable, distortion-free lens made from ground mineral glass. Highly resistant to fine scratches from dust and dirt.

Oleophobic A chemical treatment on the outside surface of the lens which makes it easier to clean. It aso acts to prevent water, oil, grease, fingerprints and dirt from sticking to the lens.

Photochromic technology Molecules which react to UV light embedded in the lens. They change shape when exposed to UV rays, becoming darker and blocking the rays.  Photochromic lenses adjust automatically to changing light conditions from dawn to dusk, minimising eye-strain and optimising vision.

Polarised lenses Lenses which have a filter to block horizontal light, allowing only vertical light through.  When light is scattered off your windscreen, bonnet, the road or fog, it is reflected at many angles.  The horizontal light creates glare. Polarisation reduces eye-strain and improves clarity of vision.

Polycarbonate lens  Lightweight, impact-resistant lens made from a synthetic resin. The qualities of the lens (anti-scratch, durability, weight) can vary depending on the composition.
