Toyota HiLux: Best-selling in Australia

Toyota HiLux is the best-selling vehicle, overall, in Australia. Beating out the Toyota Corolla (40,330) and Hyundai i30 (37,772), the humble ’Yota ute managed to sell a total of 42,104 units. Of those, 31,076 were 4X4s. Ford’s Ranger had a stellar year as well – moving up in the ranks to fourth place (36,934). 4X4 models accounted for 30,880 of those, showing how vastly popular dual-cab utes are in Australia. Mitsubishi’s Triton-based Pajero Sport and preceding Challenger wagons have been recalled, due to a potential rust issue popping up on tailgates. “Insufficient anti-corrosion coating was applied to the end cap on the outer tube of the tailgate gas springs…” which could result in the tailgate trying to emulate a guillotine.
